Vortex is a top ranked training facility and offers SCUBA diving training at any level. Great course prices are only the beginning. Vortex offers a weed free, clear spring dive. Wildlife is abundant and approachable. Some of our fish are record-size. Entry and exits are assisted by strong docks with stairs to aid in managing SCUBA equipment. You learn to dive wearing top of the line Dive Rite and Scubapro dive gear. If you have special needs, be sure to let us know. We have successfully trained SCUBA students with major physical challenges as well as serious water fear issues.

Our programs range from beginner to very advanced. Samples of the classes we offer are:

Just for younger divers we offer:

What is Scuba Diving? How do you do it? I think I want to try it, but I don't want to spend $350 and find out you don't like it... Then this is exactly what you want. A Discover Scuba gives you the chance to experience Scuba Diving in one day for just $150. We provide all the gear, the instructor, and most importantly the water! No experience needed, all you need to bring is a swim suit and $150. If you decide to take the OPEN WATER CERTIFICATION course the diving done in the Discover SCUBA experience can be applied to that course. No reservation necessary! There is no book for this class.

Our PADI Open Water Certification training will prepare you for a lifetime of adventure. Once you complete the class you are certified to dive anywhere in the world that accepts Open Water Divers. You can dive up to 50 ft in salt or fresh water as long as there is no overhead environment: meaning inside of a wreck or a cave and cavern system. If you are interested in overhead diving Open Water is the first step to those certifications. You can schedule to take a class($350)and get it done in just 3 days. We can even book your class for weekdays; there is an additional charge of $25 per day for each class day that is a Mon-Thurs. The class includes all your gear, your dive fees here at Vortex and your instructor! You will need to purchase a book, a log book, and a PIC card. You can also request for us to arrange a boat dive (there is an additional fee). Most classes are done here at Vortex start to finish. You will need to purchase a book ($40), a log book ($19), and a PIC card ($30).

The PADI Advanced Open Water (AOW) takes you a step further in over your head. Yeah! Advanced open water requires you be Open Water certified and have logged at least 6 dives. AOW takes you to depths of 99ft and teaches you more about decompression. AOW is $299 (there is no gear included in this course) and takes 2 days to complete (Depending on the classes selected additional fees may apply). AOW requires 5 specialty dives, deep, navigation, and three more of your choosing. This is a great course; it allows you to try lots of different specialties with the security of an instructor at your side. Are you a submersible shutter bug, or a scavenging pirate at heart? You can see where your passion for diving lies. Students will need to get the PADI AOW manual which is selling for $35.95

Nitrox is diving on a higher blend of air and pure oxygen. Diving Nitrox allows you to dive longer in slightly shallower depths, but the best benefit is the increased amount of oxygen in your blood stream, which reduces the wear and tear on your muscles. Nitrox takes one day, and can be done on weekdays for an additional fee. Nitrox has a 10 logged dive requirement to begin the course and some agencies require you to be Advanced Open Water Certified. The cost of the class is $200 and the PADI Nitrox manual and video is $81.70. Nitrox Tank rentals ($20/day) and fills ($10 and up) are availiable on site. Nitrox is highly recommended for those who do repetitive dive (more than 3 dives per day) or if you plan to become a cave diver. Nitrox can be taken (like Dry Suit) with another class. You can take Dry Suit/ Nitrox or Nitrox/ Cavern or Advanced Open Water/ Nitrox or Rescue/Nitrox.

Trimix is taken after advanced Nitrox and involves Helium Oxygen and Nitrogen mixing and calculations for diving such mixes. You must have Advanced Nitrox Certification to take Trimix. If you are interested, call for class schedule and pricing.

Cavern can be taken independently in 2 days or as a double class with Intro to Cave in four days. Cavern or Cavern/Intro can be taken any days of the week. Requirements include an Advanced Open Water Certification, a tank with H or Y valve, 3 lights, 1st and 2nd stage w/ 7' hose, primary reel, safety reel, and a minimum of 250 ft. The books used are NSS Cavern Workbook ($49.95) and NSS Cavern Manual ($19.95). Please call for class schedule and pricing.

The Jr. Open Water diver class is exactly the same as the Open Water diver class; however a Jr. certification is given to students age 10 to 15. At the end of the class they are certified only to dive with a parent or instructor until they are 16. At 16 their Jr. Open Water becomes a full Open Water certification, there is no additional class to upgrade. A word of caution: Just because a child is old enough to be certified, does not mean they should be. Diving is a serious sport in which personal responsibility for one's own life is taken on every trip. Only a parent can say whether or not their child is ready for the challenge.
